ワタミ、居酒屋を焼き肉店に　コロナ禍で３割転換

　居酒屋大手のワタミは５日、新業態として「焼肉の和民」を立ち上げると発表した。居酒屋業態の３割強に当たる既存１２０店を２０２２年３月末までに焼き肉店に転換し、さらに店舗網を拡大する。新型コロナウイルスの影響で客足が戻らない居酒屋を縮小し、焼き肉を新たな基幹ブランドとして育てる。
　かつての主力居酒屋ブランド「和民」はすべて業態転換し姿を消す。ワタミは同日、東京都大田区に１号店を開いた。独自ブランドの和牛や、居酒屋で培ったサイドメニューなどを提供する。店では肉や料理を運ぶ配膳レーンやロボットを使い、店員と客の接触を減らす。（2020/10/05-17:31）

Watami to Turn 120 Pubs into Barbecue Restaurants

Japan's Watami Co. said Monday that it will turn 120 of its existing "izakaya" Japanese-style pubs, or over 30 pct of the total, into "yakiniku" barbecue restaurants under a new brand by the end of March 2022.
It hopes to nurture the "Yakiniku no Watami" brand as its core business at a time when the number of izakaya customers has been faltering amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
