李登輝元総統に最後の別れ　告別式に森元首相と米国務次官―台湾

　【台北時事】７月３０日に死去した台湾の李登輝元総統の告別式が１９日、台北郊外・淡水の大学施設で執り行われた。総統府が主催する事実上の「国葬」で、蔡英文総統ら政権幹部が参列。李氏が生前信仰していたキリスト教の儀礼に基づいた礼拝の形式で行われ、「民主化の父」に最後の別れを告げた。
　海外からは森喜朗元首相とクラック米国務次官（経済成長・エネルギー・環境担当）が参列。森氏は８月９日にも訪台しており、２回目の弔問となる。海外から招かれた弔問団は日米の２組のみで、中国はクラック氏の訪台へのけん制として、１８日に台湾海峡で実戦演習を展開した。
　蔡総統は「李元総統が生前に行った全てが、今日の台湾の発展を築く強固な基礎となった。台湾人を代表して感謝する」とあいさつ。安倍晋三前首相もメッセージを寄せ、「日本と台湾の友好親善、台湾の民主主義と発展に多大なご貢献をなされた李元総統に、改めて深い感謝と敬意を表する」と李氏の冥福を祈った。（2020/09/19-12:30）

Ex-Japan PM Mori Attends Funeral for Ex-Taiwan Pres. Lee

Former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori and other guests attended a memorial service for former Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui held at a university facility near Taipei on Saturday.
   The event, which was also joined by current President Tsai Ing-wen and other senior Taiwanese government officials, was a de facto state funeral hosted by the presidential office for Lee, who passed away on July 30.
   From overseas, Mori and Keith Krach, U.S. undersecretary of state for economic growth, energy and the environment, attended the memorial service.
   It was Mori's second condolence visit to Taiwan for Lee, after the first trip on Aug. 9.
   Only groups from Japan and the United States were invited as overseas guests for the event.
