都知事選、投票進む 過去最多２２人の争い

任期満了に伴う東京都知事選の投票が５日午前、始まった。過去最多の２２人が立候補し、選挙戦では新型コロナウイルス対策や２０２１年夏に延期された東京五輪・パラリンピック開催の是非などをめぐり、それぞれの主張を展開した。投票は午後８時までに締め切られ、即日開票される。
都選挙管理委員会によると、正午現在の推定投票率は１４．６２％で、前回１６年の１７．７３％を下回っている。
都の選挙人名簿登録者数は６月１７日現在、１１４６万８９３８人。前回の投票率は５９．７３％だった。（2020/07/05-13:03）
Voting Begins in Tokyo Gubernatorial Election
Balloting began across Tokyo Sunday morning in an election that will give a verdict on Governor Yuriko Koike's four years in office.
The campaigning involving a record 22 candidates, including Koike, focused on issues such as responses to the coronavirus pandemic and the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, postponed by one year to 2021.
The voting will continue until 8 p.m. (11 a.m. GMT).
The other candidates include Taro Yamamoto, leader of small political party Reiwa Shinsengumi, Kenji Utsunomiya, former president of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations, and Taisuke Ono, former vice governor of Kumamoto Prefecture.
There were no handshakes with voters or large-scale gatherings in rare campaigning due to the pandemic.
