ウーバー配達員、労組結成＝事故時の補償拡充要求

　米配車大手ウーバー・テクノロジーズの飲食宅配代行サービス「ウーバーイーツ」の配達員が３日、１７人で労働組合を結成した。配達員は同社の従業員ではなく、「個人事業主」として働いており、労災や雇用保険が適用されない。同社は配達中の事故でけがをした場合などに補償する制度を今月導入したが、配達員は不十分だとして、労組を通じ会社側に補償額拡充など待遇の改善を求める構えだ。
　ウーバーイーツは、消費者がスマートフォンの専用アプリで食べ物を注文すると、自転車やバイクに乗った配達員が飲食店の料理を受け取り、客に届けるサービス。好きな時間に働くことができ、配達員は全国で１万人を超えるという。（2019/10/03-19:57）

Seventeen delivery partners in Japan of Uber Technologies Inc.'s Uber Eats food delivery service formed a labor union on Thursday in an effort to improve working conditions.
   Uber Eats delivery partners are not covered by the public insurance system for workers' accident compensation and the public employment insurance scheme because they are not Uber Technologies employees.
   The company introduced a system this month to provide compensation for injuries these contract workers suffer during delivery.
   The compensation system provides up to 250,000 yen to cover medical fees for injuries and up to 10 million yen in case of death. But delivery workers claim that it is not enough.
   There are over 10,000 Uber Eats delivery workers in Japan. They are free to work at any time.
