辺野古移設反対で抗議集会　ゲート前座り込み１０年―沖縄

　米軍普天間飛行場（沖縄県宜野湾市）の名護市辺野古移設に反対する市民らが、米軍キャンプ・シュワブ（名護市）ゲート前で抗議の座り込みを始めて７日で１０年を迎えるのを前に、同基地前に６日、約１２００人（主催者発表）が集まり、「辺野古に基地は要らない」と気勢を上げた。県内で相次ぐ米兵による女性への性的暴行事件への抗議も行われた。
　集会は、移設阻止を掲げる市民団体らで構成する「オール沖縄会議」が主催。参加者は、基地のフェンスに沿って並び、手をつないで「人間の鎖」で包囲した。「埋め立てやめろ」「性暴力を許さない」などと訴えた。
　主催者を代表して稲嶺進前名護市長が「米軍の事件事故は枚挙にいとまがない。この状況を許してはならない」と訴えた。玉城デニー県知事は「反対運動に対する強い思いと奮闘に心からお礼申し上げる」とのメッセージを寄せた。
　那覇市から参加した糸数和枝さん（６３）は、「抗議しても変わらないのかな」と諦めと怒りを感じるという。長年繰り返される米兵の性犯罪に「沖縄の人権が無視されている」と嘆いた。
　埋め立て海域の掘削調査を前に２０１４年７月７日に始まった座り込み抗議は、工事用資材の搬入阻止が目的。国は昨年１２月の「代執行」手続きを経て、工事をさらに進めている。（2024/07/06-21:24）

Ahead of Sunday, which marks 10 years since the start of a sit-in protest against a U.S. base relocation to the Henoko coastal area in Nago, Okinawa Prefecture, about 1,200 people participated in a rally on Saturday to oppose the base relocation, according to its organizers.
   The sit-in protest began in front of the gate of U.S. Camp Schwab in Nago on July 7, 2014, before a drilling survey off the coast of Henoko, in hopes of preventing construction materials from being brought in.
   But the project is underway to build a new U.S. facility there to take over the functions of the U.S. Marine Corps' Futenma air station in Ginowan, another Okinawa city.
   Saturday's rally was organized by a coalition of civic groups called "All Okinawa Kaigi." Participants formed a "human chain" along the fences of Camp Schwab, shouting, "Stop the landfilling."
   They also protested a series of recent sexual assault cases involving U.S troops in the prefecture.
