デンマーク、国内での外国国旗掲揚を制限へ

　ホメルゴー氏は、デンマーク国旗が「最も重要な国の象徴である」とした上で、「他国の旗は自由に揚げることは許されない」と述べた。
　ただ、外国の国旗自体が違法になるわけではなく、スポーツやデモなどのイベントで使用することは認められると説明。また、他の北欧諸国、グリーンランド、フェロー諸島、ドイツ、国際団体の旗は新法の対象とはならず、各国の大使館も自国の旗の掲揚が認められるとした。
　新たな法律は、議会での採択の後、来年１月１日から施行される見通し。
　外国国旗の掲揚をめぐっては、自宅の庭に米国の星条旗を掲揚したデンマーク人男性が訴追されて以来、デンマークでは議論が続いていた。
　裁判で最高裁は、訴追の根拠となった１９１５年に制定された条例の対象にならないとし、男性には星条旗を揚げる自由があると判断した。しかし政府はその後、この条例を廃止した。【翻訳編集ＡＦＰＢＢＮｅｗｓ】

Denmark will introduce a law to restrict the use of foreign flags on its territory, the justice minister said Wednesday.
The Danish flag, the Dannebrog, is the most important national symbol, Justice Minister Peter Hummelgaard said in a statement, adding that the flags of other countries cannot be freely flown.
Hummelgaard said foreign flags would not be banned, and could be used for sporting, demonstrations and other events.
The law will also not cover the flags of Nordic countries, Greenland, the Faroe islands, Germany and international organisations. Embassies will also be allowed to fly their countries' emblems.
The restrictions are due to take effect on January 1 after a parliament vote. There has been a debate on the issue since a court case was started against a Danish man who flew the US Stars and Stripes in his garden.
Denmark's supreme court ruled that he was free to do so as a 1915 ordonnance could not be applied. The government then scrapped the ordonnance, leading lawmakers to draw up a new bill.
