翁氏「公正で活力ある社会へ」　政府税調、初の女性トップ

　政府税制調査会（首相の諮問機関）は２５日、首相官邸で総会を開き、会長に日本総合研究所の翁百合理事長を選出した。会長交代は約１０年ぶりで、女性のトップ就任は初めて。記者会見した翁氏は「公正で活力ある社会を実現するために税制がどうあるべきか、しっかり議論していきたい」と抱負を語った。
　翁氏は日銀出身で、金融システムや社会保障に明るく、政府税調を含む政府の会議の委員を歴任してきた。学識経験者らが中心となる政府税調では、少子高齢化やデジタル化の進展に合わせた税制の在り方について、中長期的な観点から議論する。（2024/01/25-17:33）

The Japanese government's Tax Commission at a general meeting on Thursday elected Yuri Okina, chair of Japan Research Institute Ltd., as its new chief.
   Okina is the first female chief of the panel, which advises the prime minister, and its first new chair in roughly 10 years.
   "I hope the panel will discuss how the tax system should be in response to structural changes in the economy and society," Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the same day.
   Under Okina's leadership, the Tax Commission is expected to hold discussions mainly on realizing a tax system that deals with the sluggish birthrate and aging population, as well as progress in digitalization.
   Besides Okina, new members of the panel who took office Thursday include Mitsumaru Kumagai, deputy chairman of Daiwa Institute of Research Ltd., and Yoshikazu Kenjo, professor at Keio University's Faculty of Business and Commerce. They will serve for three years.
