木原防衛相、「自衛隊に報いる」発言を撤回　野党は更迭要求、岸田首相拒否

　木原稔防衛相は１６日、自民党候補を応援することが「自衛隊の苦労に報いることになる」との自身の発言を撤回した。長崎県佐世保市で記者団に「自衛隊という組織は中立なものだと思っている。誤解を生むということであれば撤回したい」と表明した。野党は木原氏の更迭を要求。岸田文雄首相は拒否する考えを示した。
　一部報道によると、木原氏は１５日、佐世保市で開かれた衆院長崎４区補欠選挙の自民候補の集会で「しっかり応援いただくことが自衛隊、家族の苦労に報いることになる」と発言した。自衛隊法は、隊員が「政治的目的のために政治的行為をしてはならない」と規定。政令で、選挙の際に特定の候補者を支持することも制限している。
　木原氏は、発言を松野博一官房長官に報告。松野氏は１６日の記者会見で「議員の政治活動に政府の立場からコメントすることは控える。自衛隊を含む政府の機関が政治的に中立であるべきことは当然だ」と指摘した。
　立憲民主党の安住淳国対委員長は記者団に、「罷免に値する。地位を利用した政治的中立を逸脱した行為だ」と述べ、更迭を要求。共産党の小池晃書記局長も「自衛隊の政治利用だ」と罷免を求めた。
　首相は１６日夜、首相官邸で記者団に「撤回したいと説明したと承知している。引き続き職務に当たってもらいたい」と語った。（2023/10/16-19:15）

Defense Chief Retracts Remark Linking Vote for LDP to SDF

Japanese Defense Minister Minoru Kihara on Monday retracted his recent remark implying that voting for an election candidate of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party would reward the hard work of the Self-Defense Forces.
   "I understand that the SDF is a neutral organization. If (the remark) causes misunderstanding, I will retract it," Kihara told reporters in the southwestern city of Sasebo, Nagasaki Prefecture.
   The comment in question was made at a rally held in Sasebo on Sunday for the LDP candidate in a by-election for the Nagasaki No. 4 constituency of the House of Representatives, according to some media reports.
   Kihara reportedly said that full support for the LDP candidate would reward the efforts of SDF members and their families.
