Kishida, Albanese Affirm Indo-Pacific Cooperation

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his Australian counterpart, Anthony Albanese, on Tuesday affirmed their countries' cooperation to realize a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
Their meeting took place ahead of the day's state funeral for former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who worked to promote the Indo-Pacific vision.
Albanese said that without Abe's leadership, the Quad framework for dialogue among Japan, the United States, Australia and India could not have been launched.
The same day, Kishida also had talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who forged friendly ties with Abe, and European Council President Charles Michel.
Kishida told Modi that he aims to build on Abe's diplomatic achievements. Modi said he will not forget about Abe.
