学校水着もジェンダーレス　長袖上着で露出控えめ―都内の企業開発「水泳楽しんで」

　性別にとらわれないジェンダーレスの動きが教育現場にも広がる中、東京都内のメーカーが開発した水着が注目を集めている。男女同じデザインが特徴で、担当者は「水着が苦手な生徒も水泳の授業を楽しんでほしい」と話している。
　学校用品などの製造販売を手掛ける「フットマーク」（東京都墨田区）は６月、「男女共用セパレーツ水着」を発売した。紺色の長袖上着とハーフパンツの上下セットで、胸や腰などの部分にゆとりを持たせ、男女の体形の違いが目立たないようにした。肌に密着しないデザインでも泳ぎやすくするため、ハーフパンツにはっ水加工を施し、腰付近に空気の抜け穴を設けたという。
　開発担当の佐野玲子さん（４３）によると、ここ数年、「性的少数者（ＬＧＢＴＱ）の生徒に対応できる水着はないか」と学校からの相談が増えてきたという。２０１５年に実施した中学生との商品企画では、男子生徒が足首まで隠す水着を提案し、佐野さんは「男女関係なく肌を見せたくないと思っているのでは」と感じていた。
　今年は東京都と兵庫県の公立中学校の計３校が、従来の水着と選択できる形で導入した。１学年の約半数の生徒が「男女共用」を選んだ学校もあるという。来年に向け１００校以上が導入を検討しており、同社は一般向けのオンライン販売も予定している。
　佐野さんは「水泳嫌いの原因が水着なら、（ジェンダーレスの）水着を選択できることで水泳の授業に前向きに取り組んでもらえれば」と話した。（2022/08/20-13:33）

Genderless school swimwear developed by a Tokyo company is attracting attention amid growing moves to introduce a gender-neutral policy in education in Japan.
   The unisex product, launched in June by Footmark Corp., is a set of a navy blue long-sleeved jacket and half pants, having roomy chest and waist areas to make differences in body shape between men and women less noticeable.
   "We've been receiving inquiries in recent years from an increasing number of schools about swimwear that can meet demand from sexual minority students," said Reiko Sano, who is in charge of product development at the company.
   In a product design project conducted with junior high school students in 2015, a male student proposed swimwear that can cover areas down to ankles, according to Sano.
   "I thought that students may be hesitant to show their skin, regardless of gender," she said.
