サル痘、拡大の兆候なし　初確認１カ月、４例判明―専門家「過度な心配不要」

　国内でサル痘感染者が初めて確認されてから間もなく１カ月となる。これまでに４例の感染が判明したが、新型コロナウイルスと異なり、現時点では感染拡大の兆候はない。専門家は「感染者の多くは自然回復する。過度な心配は不要だ」と指摘する。
　厚生労働省は７月２５日、欧州に渡航歴のある男性の感染が確認されたと発表した。男性は現地でサル痘と診断された人との接触歴があった。この男性を含む３例は、海外で感染して日本入国後に判明する「輸入症例」とみられる。
　ただ今月５日には、米軍横田基地（東京都）に所属する米軍関係者の感染が判明した。直近の渡航歴はないが、海外からの短期訪問者との接触があり、国内感染例とみられている。
　サル痘はウイルス感染によって起きる疾患で、通常７～１４日の潜伏期間後、発疹や発熱などの症状が出る。多くは２～４週間で自然回復し、致死率は低い。対症療法が中心だが、厚労省は感染拡大防止に向け、約８５％の発症予防効果があるとされる天然痘ワクチンの使用を承認している。
　世界保健機関（ＷＨＯ）によると、感染者は欧米を中心に１８日時点で３万９０００人を超えている。東京医科大の浜田篤郎特任教授（渡航医学）は「感染者の判明は日本でも続くかもしれないが、多くは自然回復する。感染者数も限られており、現時点で過度な心配は不要では」と話す。
　サル痘は感染者の発疹との接触などでうつるとされ、ＷＨＯは、感染者には男性間で性的接触があった例が多いとする。浜田氏は「差別や偏見が生まれてはだめだが、感染者数が今後急増すれば、男性間で性的接触を持つ人たちへの啓発や対策も必要になるかもしれない」と指摘している。（2022/08/22-07:03）

Unlike the novel coronavirus, there is no sign of monkeypox spreading in Japan after nearly a month since the first case of the viral infection resembling smallpox was confirmed in the country.
   Japan has so far reported four monkeypox cases.
   The health ministry announced the first case on July 25. The infection was confirmed in a man who had traveled to Europe and had come into contact with a person diagnosed with monkeypox there.
   The two other cases also involved people who got infected with monkeypox outside Japan and learned of the infection after entering the country.
   On Aug. 5, the ministry said a man belonging to the U.S. military's Yokota base in western Tokyo tested positive for monkeypox. The man had not traveled overseas recently but had contact with a person who entered Japan for a short-term stay. This appears to be a locally transmitted case.
