日豪防衛協力「野心的に」　対中念頭、訓練を高度化―防衛相会談

　岸信夫防衛相は１５日、オーストラリアのマールズ国防相と防衛省で会談した。覇権主義的な動きを強める中国を念頭に、東・南シナ海での力による一方的な現状変更の試みに反対し、法の支配に基づく海洋秩序を重視する立場を確認。日豪の防衛協力を「野心的かつ前向きに」進めていく方針で一致した。
　具体的な取り組みとしては、(1)自衛隊と豪軍の共同訓練を高度化し、相互運用性を向上(2)宇宙・サイバー分野の連携を推進(3)科学技術面の協力促進に向けた調整を加速―することなどを申し合わせた。
　岸氏は冒頭、「両国の防衛力強化はインド太平洋地域の安全保障を強化するものだ」と強調。マールズ氏は「複雑な国際環境からしても、日本はオーストラリアにとり重要な存在だ」と述べた。（2022/06/15-16:25）

Japanese Defense Minister Nobuo Kishi and his Australian counterpart, Richard Marles, on Wednesday agreed to promote their countries' defense cooperation in an ambitious and forward-looking manner.
   In their meeting in Tokyo, the two ministers confirmed that their countries oppose any unilateral attempt to change the status quo by force in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, apparently having in mind China's increasingly hegemonic moves.
   They also agreed on the importance of maritime order based on the rule of law.
   "Strengthening the two countries' defense capabilities means strengthening the Indo-Pacific region's security," Kishi said at the beginning of the meeting.
   Marles said that Japan is important to Australia in light of a complicated international environment.
