新潟知事に花角氏再選　無所属新人破る

　任期満了に伴う新潟県知事選は２９日投開票され、無所属で現職の花角英世氏（６４）＝自民支持＝が、無所属新人で会社役員の片桐奈保美氏（７２）＝共産、れいわ、社民推薦＝を破り、再選を果たした。投票率は４９．６４％で、前回（５８．２５％）を下回った。
　花角氏は、企業誘致による経済効果や財政再建など１期４年の実績をアピール。政党色を抑えた「県民党」戦略を掲げ、公明党や国民民主党の県組織など幅広い支持を受けた。
　片桐氏は東京電力柏崎刈羽原発の再稼働の是非を争点に挙げ、「脱原発」を前面に押し出したが、及ばなかった。（2022/05/30-00:25）

Niigata Governor Hideyo Hanazumi won another term in Sunday's gubernatorial election in the central Japan prefecture.
   The 64-year-old incumbent, backed by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, beat the sole challenger, corporate executive Naomi Katagiri, 72, endorsed by the Japanese Communist Party, Reiwa Shinsengumi and the Social Democratic Party.
   In the election, Hanazumi highlighted his achievements on the economic and fiscal policy fronts during his first four-year term.
   By keeping back his party color, he gathered a wide range of support including from the local chapters of Komeito, the LDP's coalition partner, and the opposition Democratic Party for the People.
   Katagiri put forward her opposition to the use of nuclear energy, making an issue of whether to allow Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc.'s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear plant in Niigata to be restarted.
