自殺者、２年ぶり減少　コロナ影響？生活苦動機は増―厚労省

　厚生労働省は２１日、警察庁の統計に基づく２０２１年の自殺者数（速報値）が、前年確定値より２５１人（１．２％）少ない２万８３０人だったと発表した。新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大が始まった２０年は働く女性の自殺者が大幅に増えたが、２１年はわずかに減少した。一方、自殺の動機では生活苦を訴え亡くなった人が最も増えており、感染拡大の長期化と相次ぐ緊急事態宣言などが影響した可能性もある。
　人口１０万人当たりの自殺者数（自殺死亡率）は、０．２人減の１６．５人だった。厚労省の担当者は「コロナ禍以前の水準に戻った」と分析している。
　厚労省によると、男性の自殺者は前年比２４０人減の１万３８１５人で、１２年連続で減少した。女性は同１１人減の７０１５人だった。
　２１年１～１１月に自殺した人の動機をみると、前年同期に比べ最も増えたのは「生活・経済問題」の３０３８人（１１４人増）で、うち生活苦を挙げたのは９９０人（９８人増）だった。
　コロナ禍による休校などが影響し、２０年（１～１１月）には生徒や学生の自殺者が増えていた。２１年の同じ時期では小学生が３人減の１０人、中学生が１人増の１３１人だった。過去最悪だった高校生は３８人減の２７９人、大学生は３人増の３８４人となった。
　地域別の自殺死亡率は山梨が２３．７人と最も高く、青森の２３．６人が続いた。最も低かったのは神奈川の１２．８人。次いで石川の１３．２人だった。（2022/01/21-10:06）

The number of people who killed themselves in Japan in 2021 came to 20,830, down 251, or 1.2 pct, from the previous year, the health ministry said in a preliminary report based on police data Friday.
   In 2020, when the novel coronavirus began to spread in the nation, the number of suicides among working women grew sharply. But the figure fell slightly in 2021.
   Meanwhile, the number of people who committed suicide after struggling to make a living rose sharply, possibly a result of the prolonged coronavirus pandemic and a string of COVID-19 states of emergency declared by the Japanese government.
   The suicide rate, measured by the number of suicides per population of 100,000, stood at 16.5, down 0.2 from the previous year.
   "The figure returned to levels before the coronavirus pandemic," a health ministry official said.
