ｉＰＳで視細胞、研究申請　網膜の難病患者に移植計画―神戸市立病院

　神戸市立神戸アイセンター病院は９日、人工多能性幹細胞（ｉＰＳ細胞）から光を感じる視細胞を作製し、網膜の難病「網膜色素変性」の患者に移植する世界初の臨床研究計画を、大阪大の委員会に申請したと発表した。同大や厚生労働省の審査を経て、２０２０年度に最初の移植を目指している。
　網膜色素変性は、視細胞が徐々になくなり、視野が狭くなったり、視力が低下したりする病気で、根本的な治療法はない。
　同病院によると、京都大ｉＰＳ細胞研究所から提供されたｉＰＳ細胞を使い、視細胞のもとになる細胞を作製。これをシート状に加工して患者に移植し、視細胞が定着するかどうか確認する。シートは大日本住友製薬が作る。
　移植は重い視力の低下がみられる成人の患者２人に実施。移植後は１年かけて、腫瘍化しないかなどの安全性や有効性を検証する。（2019/12/09-23:12）

Kobe City Eye Hospital has filed an application for approval on a clinical research project to produce photoreceptor cells from induced pluripotent stem, or iPS, cells, and transplant them into patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, an intractable eye disease.
   The project will be the first of its kind in the world.
   The hospital, also known as the Kobe Eye Center, said Monday it has filed the application with a committee of Osaka University.
   Following screenings by the university and the health ministry, the hospital, located in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture, western Japan, aims to conduct the first transplant surgery in fiscal 2020, which starts next April.
   Retinitis pigmentosa causes photoreceptor cells, which sense light, to gradually degenerate. Patients suffering from the retinal disease, for which there is no fundamental treatment, experience symptoms such as a narrowing of the visual field and deterioration of vision.
