通常国会が召集　参院選へ与野党攻防

　第２０８通常国会が１７日、召集された。政府・与党は夏の参院選をにらみ、岸田文雄首相の看板政策である経済安全保障推進法案やこども家庭庁設置法案を確実に成立させ、実績の積み上げを目指す。野党は、新型コロナウイルスの新たな変異株「オミクロン株」の感染急拡大を受け、政府の対応を追及する方針。冒頭から与野党の攻防が展開されそうだ。
　首相は１７日、自民党本部で開かれた両院議員総会で、新型コロナ対応に万全を期す考えを示し、「まん延防止等重点措置をはじめとする行動制限もしっかりと行っていかなければならない」と強調。その上で「参院選を乗り越え、日本政治の安定を確実なものにする」と述べた。立憲民主党の泉健太代表も両院議員総会で「政治に対する監視機能を発揮して国会論戦に挑んでいきたい」と意欲を示した。
　会期は６月１５日までの１５０日間。会期延長がなければ、参院選は公職選挙法の規定で７月１０日投開票となる見通し。（2022/01/17-12:47）

The Diet, Japan's parliament, started a 150-day ordinary session on Monday, with the government proposing a record budget for fiscal 2022 amid the prolonged coronavirus pandemic.
   The draft budget for the fiscal year from April calls for general-account expenditure of 107,596.4 billion yen, up 0.9 pct from the fiscal 2021 initial budget and hitting a record high for the 10th consecutive year.
   The spending growth reflects costs for measures related to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's priority policy of creating a virtuous cycle of economic growth and wealth redistribution.
   Spending to tackle the coronavirus crisis, as well as record social security outlays and increased defense expenditures were other key features of the draft budget. As part of wealth redistribution measures, the government earmarked funds to raise wages for nurses, caregivers and nursery teachers.
   The government will seek to get the budget enacted by the end of March.
