「環境問題でメッセージを」　吉野さん、ノーベル賞授賞式へ

　リチウムイオン電池の開発でノーベル化学賞の受賞が決まった吉野彰・旭化成名誉フェロー（７１）が５日午前、授賞式が行われるスウェーデンの首都ストックホルムへの出発に先立ち、成田空港で記者会見した。
　吉野さんは「一番楽しみにしているのは記念講演だ。特に環境問題に関して、こういう道筋があるというメッセージを世界に送りたい」と意欲を見せた。また、「今回の受賞が小さなお子さんにとって、自分が将来何になりたいかを考えるのにつながってくれたらいい」と笑顔で語った。（2019/12/05-10:28）

Japanese researcher Akira Yoshino, a winner of this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry, signaled his eagerness to issue a message on environmental issues, at a press conference on Thursday, held before his departure later in the day to Stockholm to attend the award ceremony.
   "What I look forward to most is a Nobel lecture. In particular, I want to show to the world paths for addressing environmental issues," he told the press conference at Narita International Airport near Tokyo. "I hope my winning the prize will help young children think about what they want to be in the future."
   In October, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences named Yoshino, 71, an honorary fellow of major Japanese chemical maker Asahi Kasei Corp. , and two other scientists as winners of the 2019 chemistry prize for their contributions to the development of lithium-ion batteries.
   Yoshino and the joint winners--John B. Goodenough of University of Texas and M. Stanley Whittingham of Binghamton University, State University of New York--are set to give Nobel lectures on Sunday and attend the award ceremony on Tuesday in the Swedish capital.
   "I had thought that the ceremony was be a long way off. But time passed so fast, and it's now just around the corner," Yoshino's wife, Kumiko, 71, said at the press conference.
