首里城再建へ有識者会議　沖縄県交え技術的検討へ―政府

　政府は２日、焼失した首里城の再建に向けた関係閣僚会議（議長・菅義偉官房長官）の第２回会合を首相官邸で開いた。菅長官は、過去に復元に携わった沖縄の有識者を招いた会議を内閣府沖縄総合事務局に設け、沖縄県関係者も交えて速やかに技術的検討を始める方針を明らかにした。
　首里城は太平洋戦争中の沖縄戦の戦火で失われたが、１９９２年に国営公園として再建された経緯がある。菅長官は「前回復元時の考え方に沿ってしっかり再現していくことが重要だ」と述べ、復元に向けた基本的な方針を速やかに同会議で取りまとめる考えを示した。
　２日の会議には沖縄県の玉城デニー知事も出席し、首里城復興戦略チーム設置など県独自の取り組みを報告。「（有識者会議に）県民の意見をしっかり反映させていきたい」と伝えた。（2019/12/02-19:47）

The Japanese government plans to advance reconstruction efforts for fire-hit Shuri Castle by establishing a council of experts who were involved in the restoration of the castle in 1992.
   The plan was unveiled at the second meeting of a related ministerial forum by its head, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, on Monday.
   The planned panel, to be established at the Cabinet Office's Okinawa General Bureau, will start discussions early on technical aspects of the reconstruction of the UNESCO World Heritage site in Naha, the capital of the southernmost Japan prefecture of Okinawa, according to the top government spokesman. Experts from the Okinawa prefectural government will also be involved in the talks.
   The fire occurred in the small hours of Oct. 31, heavily damaging seven buildings, including the "Seiden" main hall, at Shuri Castle, a symbol of Okinawa. The castle was previously rebuilt in 1992, from scratch, as part of a state-managed park. The original castle was burned to the ground in 1945 during the Battle of Okinawa in World War II.
   "It is important to accurately reproduce Shuri Castle based on the thought process from the previous restoration," Suga said, adding that the expert council will swiftly draw up basic plans for rebuilding the castle.
