ＮＥＣ、世界最大容量の海底ケーブル建設開始　フェイスブック向け、北大西洋

　ＮＥＣは８日、北大西洋で欧州と米国を結ぶ光海底ケーブルの建設を開始したと発表した。米フェイスブック向けで、従来に比べ１．５倍の伝送容量を持つ新たなケーブルを採用。中継器が必要な長距離光海底ケーブルとしては世界最大容量という。
　建設期間は２～３年の見込み。高速大容量規格「５Ｇ」の普及などで拡大する国際通信の回線需要に対応する。（2021/10/08-10:22）

NEC Starts Building Large-Capacity Trans-Atlantic Subsea Cable

NEC Corp. said Friday it has started building a trans-Atlantic subsea fiber-optic cable which the Japanese company claims to have the world's largest transmission capacity as a long-distance optical submarine cable.
The cable will connect Europe and the United States for Facebook Inc. to meet growing demand for international communications amid the spread of 5G large-capacity ultrafast mobile technology.
