原発廃止に理解、勇断を　黙とう、被災者支援訴え―ローマ教皇

　来日中のフランシスコ・ローマ教皇は２５日午前、東京都千代田区で東日本大震災の被災者と面会した。演説の冒頭、犠牲者に黙とうをささげた上で、被災者への支援継続を訴えた。東京電力福島第１原発事故を踏まえ「私たちは地球や環境の一部。将来のエネルギーに関し、勇気ある重大な決断をすることが最初の一歩だ」と促すとともに、「日本の司教たちは原発の廃止を求めた」と指摘し、これに理解を示した。
　核の惨劇を繰り返さないよう主張する教皇は前日にも、被爆地の長崎、広島両市で核兵器廃絶に向けたメッセージを発信している。

　教皇は演説で、津波被害や原発事故に触れ、「日本の人々の魂で、完全な復興は必ず果たせる」と強調した。そのためにも「多くの手と心を一つであるかのように一致させなければならない」と呼び掛けた。
　フランシスコ教皇は、ローマ教皇として３８年ぶりとなった今回の来日のテーマに「すべての命を守るため」を掲げた。日本の特徴として「美しい自然」の存在を挙げ、地球を「私たちが住む家」と呼ぶ。２０１５年にフィリピンで台風被災者を慰問するなど、自然災害への危機感は強い。
　１１年３月の東日本大震災発生当時、先代教皇のベネディクト１６世は直後に祈りをささげるとともに、同年５月に使者を日本に派遣。４月のイタリアのテレビ番組で被災した７歳少女の質問を受けて「苦しむ日本の子供たちのそばにいる」と励ました。義援金やカトリック系ＮＧＯを通じた支援も行った。（2019/11/25-15:31）

Visiting Pope Francis said Monday that Japanese bishops are calling for the abolition of nuclear power plants and expressed understanding for such calls.
   The pope was making a speech at a meeting in Tokyo with people affected by the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami, which mainly hit northeastern Japan, and the subsequent triple meltdown at Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc.'s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant in Fukushima Prefecture.
   It came a day after the pope, seeking no repeat of the nuclear tragedies, sent messages for the elimination of nuclear weapons in the atomic-bombed cities of Nagasaki and Hiroshima in western Japan.
   At the beginning of his speech Monday, after offering silent prayers for victims who lost their lives in the March 2011 disaster, the pope called for continuing support for the survivors.
   He said that human beings are a part of the Earth and the environment and that the first step to take is to make a courageous and important decision about the future for energy, apparently referring to the nuclear accident at the Fukushima No. 1 plant.
