選手村、限定的な交流機会　コロナ対策、異例の運用〔五輪〕

　東京五輪開幕が迫り、大会中に選手が滞在する東京・晴海の選手村が１３日に開村した。世界中から若者が一堂に会し、平和思想や相互理解を育むという五輪精神にとって選手村は象徴的な場。しかし、新型コロナウイルスの感染が収まらない中での大会は従来と異なり、交流の機会を減らした運用となっている。
　１４～１８階建ての２１棟がある居住棟は、五輪時で１万８０００のベッドを備える。感染リスクを下げるために入村は原則として競技開始５日前からとし、競技が終わった選手には２日以内の退去を求める。
　接触を減らす工夫は随所にある。恒例だった各国・地域の入村式はすべて中止。メインの食堂は座席数を当初の４３００から３０００に減らした。料理はあらかじめ取り分けられたものを各自が取る形とし、食堂への持ち込みや持ち出しは禁止。食堂内の映像を解析して混雑状況を調べ、スマートフォンのアプリなどで確認できる仕組みで利用の集中を避けるよう促す。フィットネスセンターに置くランニングマシンの間には、飛沫（ひまつ）を防ぐアクリル板を設置した。
　各戸は共有のスペースやトイレ、シャワーなどと２～８人分のベッドを備え、ツインでの使用が前提の居室もある。組織委員会は「すべてのベッドルームに窓があり、二方向換気が可能」と説明するが、競技団体関係者からは「今まで見た大会の中では、一番部屋が狭いのではないか」との声も。部屋への酒の持ち込みは可能だが、独りで飲むことが求められている。
　コロナ感染が疑われる人への診療やＰＣＲ検査実施のため、２４時間運用の「発熱外来」を設置。検査結果判明までの待機場所として１０人分の個室を備え、室内の空気をそのまま外に出さない装置も導入した。陽性が判明した軽症者のために、組織委は村外のホテル１棟を確保して万全を期すとしている。（2021/07/14-14:18）

An Olympics athletes village is supposed to be an embodiment of the games' spirit, under which young people from all over the world come together and foster peace and mutual understanding through sports.
   But things will be different at the athletes village for the Tokyo Olympics, which opened in the Harumi waterfront district of the Japanese capital on Tuesday.
   Unlike in past villages, athletes will have only limited opportunities to connect with each other amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
   In the housing section of the village, a total of 18,000 beds are laid out in the 21 residential buildings with 14-18 stories for the Olympics from July 23 through Aug. 8.
   To prevent the spread of infection, athletes are required to move into the village no earlier than five days before the start of their events and leave no later than two days after the end of the events.
