次世代の１００人に小泉氏　安倍首相の「後継」―米誌タイム

　【ニューヨーク時事】米誌タイムはこのほど、経済や政治、スポーツなどで将来を方向付ける「次世代の１００人」を発表し、指導者部門で小泉進次郎環境相が選ばれた。選評で「有権者の多くは、（安倍晋三首相の）後継が誰かを既に知っている。３８歳の小泉進次郎氏だ」と伝えている。

　選評は小泉氏が環境相就任早々、「気候変動との闘いを『セクシー』かつ『楽しい』ものにすると発言し、眉をひそめさせたが、アピールできる早速の成功もある。横浜市が東京都や京都市に続き、二酸化炭素（ＣＯ２）排出量を２０５０年までに実質ゼロとする決意を示したことだ」と評価している。（2019/11/16-11:03）

Japanese Environment Minister Shinjiro Koizumi has been chosen by U.S. magazine Time as one of the world's 100 rising stars who are expected to shape the future in various sectors.
   While noting that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is set to become the Asian nation's longest-serving leader, Time said, "Many voters already know whom they would tap to succeed him: 38-year-old Shinjiro Koizumi."
   Koizumi, chosen in the "leaders" category, faced a backlash soon after assuming the ministerial post in September, for remarks he made in English that he wants to make the fight against climate change "sexy" and "fun."
   "But he also had an early success to tout," the magazine said in a story on the "100 Next" list, noting that he persuaded eastern Japan's Yokohama, one of the biggest cities in the country, to join Tokyo and western Japan's Kyoto, also a major city, in pledging to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to net zero by 2050.
   Time started compiling the 100 Next list this year, covering five categories--artists, advocates, leaders, phenoms and innovators.
