下水でコロナ検査　感染者、効率的に把握―島津製作所

　島津製作所は１３日、下水を使った新型コロナウイルスのＰＣＲ検査サービスを本格的に始めたと発表した。高齢者施設や学校など施設単位で実施し、個人への検査と併用することで、効率的に感染者を把握できる。
　感染者の排せつ物には発症前からウイルスが含まれ、排水を調べることで感染流行の兆しをつかめる。サービスは島津の子会社が手掛ける。下水に脱脂綿を２４時間浸して試料を採取し検査する。陽性が出た場合に施設内の人物を個別に調べ、感染者を特定する。下水検査費用は１回７万円（税別）。交通費などの諸費用が別途必要になる。（2021/05/13-21:42）

Japanese precision equipment maker Shimadzu Corp. has announced the full-scale launch of its service to conduct polymerase chain reaction tests for the novel coronavirus using wastewater.
The tests, handled by a subsidiary, are conducted by facility, including at schools and elderly care homes. Infections can be found efficiently if the wastewater tests are combined with tests on individuals, Shimadzu said Thursday.
