ワクチン接種、緩みは禁物　「マスクなど対策継続を」―新型コロナ

　１２日から高齢者向けの優先接種が始まった新型コロナウイルスワクチン。感染対策の切り札と期待されるが、海外では接種が順調に進んでいながら感染者が急増した例がある。接種を済ませた安心感が感染拡大を招く恐れもあり、専門家は「集団免疫が得られて流行しにくくなるまでは、マスクなどの感染対策を徹底してほしい」と呼び掛けている。
　２月以降、世界有数のペースで接種が進む南米・チリ。既に国民の３人に１人が１回目のワクチン接種を済ませたが、感染者はむしろ急増し、首都などでは３月下旬から事実上のロックダウン（都市封鎖）が実施されている。同国政府は「ワクチンの効果が出るのは早くて４月中旬以降で、本来の効果が期待されるのは（国民の大半が接種する）６月末だ」とし、感染対策の継続を求めている。
　東京大医科学研究所ワクチン科学分野の石井健教授は、「ワクチンの有効性が出てくるのは２回目の接種を済ませた１、２週間後」と説明。集団免疫の状態になるには、国内の接種率が８５～９０％程度に達する必要があると考えられ、接種した人から感染拡大以前の生活に戻れるわけではないと強調する。
　海外では、ワクチン接種の証明書を提示することで施設やイベントに入場できる仕組みを導入した国もある。ただ、石井教授は「あくまで接種した証明にすぎず、抗体ができたかは分からない。接種証明をパスポートのように扱うと感染拡大の温床になる恐れがあり、偽造も懸念される」と指摘。「ワクチンのリスクと効果をきちんと把握し、接種後も自分で考えて行動することを心掛けてほしい」と呼び掛けている。（2021/04/13-07:06）

Experts are calling on people in Japan to stay vigilant against the new coronavirus even after getting vaccinated, as a surge in infection cases has been seen in Chile, despite its speedy vaccine rollout.
   With Japan having started to inoculate elderly people against the new coronavirus on Monday, fears are growing that a sense of security from being vaccinated might lead to a new wave of infections.
   An expert called on people to "continue to take thorough measures to prevent infection, such as wearing face masks, until (Japan) achieves herd immunity and it becomes difficult for the virus to spread (in the country)."
   Chile has been experiencing a resurgence of the virus even though one in three people in the South American country has already received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine since February. In response to the rise in infection cases, de-facto lockdown measures have been implemented in the capital and elsewhere in Chile since late March.
   The Chilean government said that the effects of vaccinations are expected to start being seen in mid-April, at the earliest, and the real results of the measure are likely to be seen around the end of June, when the country is expected to complete vaccinations for most people in the country.
