訪日ベジタリアンに安心を＝超党派議連、五輪見据え提言へ

　２０２０年東京五輪・パラリンピックを前に、肉や魚を食べないベジタリアン（菜食主義者）の訪日外国人を支援する超党派国会議員連盟が６日、衆院議員会館で設立総会を開いた。厳格なベジタリアンにも対応した認証制度の構築など安心して食事ができる環境の整備について検討し、関係省庁に提言する。
　議連の会長に就任した自民党の河村建夫元官房長官は五輪に関し、「ベジタリアンへの対応も急がれる。関係団体と対策を考えたい」と表明。菜食主義の知識普及を行う団体の幹部も招かれ、「ベジタリアンが安心して食べられるレストランのメニュー表示が少ない」などと述べた。総会では舞茸と豆腐をカキに見立てたフライなどが入ったベジタリアン対応の弁当が振る舞われた。（2019/11/06-16:23）

Ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, Japanese lawmakers have set up a suprapartisan group for foreign vegetarians so that they can eat without worries in Japan.
   The group's inaugural meeting was held in Tokyo on Wednesday. Its head is former Chief Cabinet Secretary Takeo Kawamura of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party.
   The group will discuss specific measures, including a proposed certification system for foods that meet the requirements of even strict vegetarians, and make proposals to government agencies.
   "We hope to consider measures with related groups," Kawamura told the meeting, stating that devising such measures is an "urgent" task.
   The meeting was also attended by a senior official of a group to spread information about vegetarians. "Only a few restaurants in Japan have menus of foods that vegetarians can eat without worries," the official said.
