政府、首里城再建へ補正計上も＝沖縄知事、菅官房長官らに要請

　沖縄県の玉城デニー知事は１日、菅義偉官房長官を首相官邸に訪ね、火災で焼失した首里城（那覇市）の再建へ国の支援を要請した。菅氏は「沖縄県民に心からお見舞いを申し上げる。財政的措置を含めてやれることは全てやる」と応じた。首里城は国営公園内にあり、政府は２０１９年度補正予算への関係費用計上も視野に、再建を後押しする方針だ。
　安倍晋三首相は１日、首里城焼失に関し、首相官邸で面会した自民党議員に「政府として責任を持って全力で再建に取り組む」と表明。菅氏はこの後の記者会見で「予算が必要であれば責任を持ってしっかり対応したい」と述べた。
　菅氏との会談で、玉城氏は「首里城はウチナーンチュ（沖縄の人）の魂とでもいうべき場所で、県民もショックを受けている」と強調。沖縄県の本土復帰５０周年に当たる２２年５月を目標に再建計画策定を急ぐ考えを伝えた。（2019/11/01-19:05）

Denny Tamaki, governor of Okinawa Prefecture, asked on Friday for the Japanese government's help in rebuilding Shurijo, a famed castle that was devastated by a fire the previous day.
   Tamaki made the request at a meeting with Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, held at the prime minister's office in Tokyo. "I'd like to express my deepest sympathy to the people of Okinawa," Suga said. "We will do everything we can, including fiscal measures," to reconstruct the castle in Naha, the capital of the southernmost Japan prefecture, he added.
   As the castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is located in a state-managed park, the government of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe plans to back up its reconstruction, taking into account the possibility of earmarking necessary funds under a planned fiscal 2019 supplementary budget.
   At a meeting with lawmakers of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party on Friday, Abe, who doubles as LDP president, said that the government will make all-out efforts to rebuild the castle. At a press conference later, Suga said, "We will firmly work if budget allocation is necessary."
   During the meeting with Suga, Tamaki stressed that the people of Okinawa have been "shocked" by the fire as Shurijo "embodies the soul" of the locals. Tamaki said the Okinawa prefectural government will draw up a plan calling for the rebuilding of the castle by May 2022, when Okinawa marks the 50th anniversary of its reversion from the United States.
