２０年訪日客、２２年ぶり低水準　コロナ禍で８７％減の４１１万人

　日本政府観光局が２０日発表した２０２０年の訪日外国人数（推計値）は、前年比８７．１％減の４１１万５９００人だった。新型コロナウイルス感染拡大を受けた世界各国での出入国規制が響き、訪日客は１９９８年（４１０万６０５７人）以来２２年ぶりの低水準。政府が掲げた２０年目標（４０００万人）の１割程度にとどまり、国内外の旅行需要に多大な影響を及ぼしているコロナ禍が大きく響いた形となった。
　欧米などでワクチン接種は始まったものの、感染力が強いとされる変異種の出現もあり、コロナ収束は見通せない。東京五輪・パラリンピック開催に逆風が吹く中、２１年も訪日客回復は期待できず、３０年目標の６０００万人への道のりは一段と険しくなった。
　２０年は１月に前年並みの２６６万人を確保した後、感染拡大に伴い客足が鈍化。入国規制の厳格化を受け、５月は１６６３人と統計を始めた６４年以降で最少を記録した。年末にかけた訪日も外国人技能実習生らが中心で観光需要は凍り付いたままだ。（2021/01/20-20:13）

Foreign Visitors to Japan Dive to 22-Year Low in 2020

The estimated number of foreign visitors to Japan in 2020 dived 87.1 pct from the previous year to 4,115,900, the lowest level in 22 years, reflecting travel restrictions worldwide amid the coronavirus pandemic, government data showed Wednesday.
The total stood at about only 10 pct of the Japanese government's target of raising the annual number of visitors to Japan to 40 million in 2020, according to the data released by the Japan National Tourism Organization.
