ＪＲ芸備線が全線再開＝西日本豪雨から１年３カ月－広島

　西日本豪雨の影響で橋梁（きょうりょう）が流され、広島県内に一部不通区間があったＪＲ芸備線が２３日、約１年３カ月ぶりに再開した。これで豪雨被害によるＪＲ西日本管内の運休が全て解消された。
　広島駅では同日午前、記念式典が開かれ、松井一実広島市長は「芸備線の価値を皆で見直して、しっかりといただいた資産を大事に使っていきたい。沿線自治体の皆さん、ＪＲと一体となって活用したい」とあいさつ。ＪＲ西の北野真・広島支社長は「被害が大きく、復旧に時間を要した。ご不便をおかけし、心苦しいと思っていた」などと述べた。
　ＪＲ西によると、不通だった区間は、流された第１三篠川橋梁があった狩留家（広島市）－中三田（同）間。１７日までに橋を架け終え、最終点検を行った。試運転も実施し、線路に異常がないことが確認された。
　式典は広島駅のほか、向原駅（安芸高田市）など４駅で開催。ＪＲ西はこれに合わせ、観光列車を臨時運行し、各駅や線路沿いでは、住民らの旗振りや歓迎演奏などが行われる。（2019/10/23-11:16）

West Japan Railway Co. , or JR West, fully reopened its Geibi Line on Wednesday,15 months after the heavy rains that ravaged Hiroshima Prefecture and other western areas of Japan.
   "We'll treasure afresh the Geibi Line and carefully use the important asset," Kazumi Matsui, mayor of Hiroshima, the capital of the prefecture, said at a ceremony held at Hiroshima Station in the city. "JR West hopes to make good use of it with people in communities around the line," he added.
   Makoto Kitano, president of the railway operator's Hiroshima branch, said: "It took a lot of time to restore services because the damage from the disaster was tremendous. We had felt sorry for inconveniencing users."
   In JR West's service area, all railway sections that had been suspended due to the heavy rains have now been brought back into service.
   On the Geibi Line, services between Karuga and Naka-Mita stations, both in the city of Hiroshima, were suspended as a bridge was lost in the torrential rain. A new bridge was completed recently, and then final safety checks and test train runs were conducted.
