解散「新首相が判断」　コロナ収束に全力―菅氏

　自民党総裁選（８日告示、１４日投開票）に立候補する菅義偉官房長官（７１）は５日午前、読売テレビの番組で、衆院解散・総選挙について「新しく総理、総裁になった方が判断することだ」と強調した。同時に、まずは新型コロナウイルス感染収束に全力を挙げる考えも示した。
　衆院議員の任期は来年１０月まで。菅氏が新首相に就いた場合、早期に解散するとの観測が与野党にある。
　菅氏は番組で「私は官房長官の会見でよく、安倍晋三首相がいつ解散するか（記者から）聞かれたときに『総理が解散すると言えば解散、しなければしない、それ以上でもそれ以下でもない』と申し上げてきた。私が言ってきた通りだ」と含みを持たせた。
　新政権での官房長官の人選については「全く考えていない」と説明。「例えば河野太郎防衛相のような方がいいのか、自民党の森山裕国対委員長のタイプがいいのか」との問いには「非常に悩みますね」と応じた。
　菅氏は、橋下徹元大阪市長について「改革の道筋を付けた」と評価。民間からの閣僚起用の可能性に関しては「まだ（首相に）なっていないから、組閣人事は頭の片隅にもない」と語った。
　一方、石破茂元幹事長（６３）と岸田文雄政調会長（６３）はテレビ西日本の番組に出演。劣勢が伝えられる中、石破氏は「（国民が）納得しないと政策は前に進まない。それを私は絶対にやりたい」と主張。岸田氏は「今まで蓄えてきた力をこの戦いに集中する。それに尽きる」と訴えた。（2020/09/05-12:03）

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, heavily favored to become the next leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, said Saturday that whether there will be a snap general election after a new prime minister takes office is "up to the new prime minister."
   "As chief cabinet secretary, I often told reporters asking when Prime Minister Shinzo Abe will dissolve (the House of Representatives) that 'if the prime minister says he will, it will happen, and if not, it won't,'" Suga said on a television program. "It is the same now."
   At the same time, Suga said he will do all he can to address the immediate challenge of the new coronavirus crisis.
   The term for the current members of the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of parliament, ends next October. Ruling and opposition lawmakers believe that if Suga, 71, becomes LDP president, and subsequently prime minister, he may dissolve the Lower House at an early date to call an election.
   The LDP presidential election is slated for Sept. 14 after Abe abruptly announced late last month his decision to step down for health reasons. Suga declared his bid to succeed Abe earlier this week.
