行楽地給油所から悲鳴　お盆休みも「期待できず」―コロナ再拡大、観光自粛を懸念

　新型コロナウイルスの影響で今年の夏休みシーズンは観光バスやマイカーでの長距離移動が大幅に減少している。行楽地のガソリンスタンド（ＧＳ）にとって、例年であればお盆期間は書き入れ時だが、業界からは「今夏は期待できない」と悲鳴が上がっている。
　資源エネルギー庁によると、レギュラーガソリン１リットル当たりの店頭価格は、全国平均１３４．５円（３日現在）。昨年のお盆前と比べ約１０円安いが、外出自粛で観光や帰省を控える動きが広がり、ガソリン需要回復は望み薄だ。
　東京都心から車で約２時間の山中湖（山梨県）周辺のＧＳには例年、８月は毎日数十台の観光バスが給油に訪れる。しかし、今年は「１台も来ない。別荘を訪れる個人客も半分ほど」（従業員）となる苦境だ。
　「Ｇｏ　Ｔｏ　トラベル」キャンペーンによる観光需要回復を見込んだが、東京が対象除外となって当てが外れた。さらに、新型コロナの感染再拡大で「お盆も客は増えないだろうが、（客が増えて）感染が広がるのも良くないし…」（同）と複雑な心境を吐露する。
　栃木県日光市で約４０年営業するＧＳ「若松石油」も今夏の客数は昨年の７割ほど。業績は「創業以来、最も悪い年になるかもしれない」（経営者）と頭を悩ます。
　ガソリン需要は緊急事態宣言が全国で発令された４～５月に前年比２割超も落ち込んだが、７月は前年に近い水準まで回復したとみられる。８月は観光やお盆の帰省に加え、カーエアコンの利用頻度も高まるため、本来であれば需要増を期待できるが、今年は「（感染再拡大で）大きな回復が見込めない」（業界関係者）状況だ。
　ＧＳ事業者で組織する全国石油商業組合連合会（東京）は「夏場の業績はＧＳ経営に影響が大きいため動向を注視していく」としている。（2020/08/11-07:09）

Gas stations in tourist areas in Japan are having a tough time in the summer holiday season, including the "Bon" period, when sales of gasoline are particularly high in normal years, as the continuing spread of the novel coronavirus is sapping demand for long-distance travel using vehicles.
   The average retail price of regular gasoline across the country stood at 134.5 yen per liter as of Aug. 3, down about 10 yen from the levels shortly before the Bon period in mid-August last year, according to the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy.
   Gasoline demand tumbled more than 20 pct year on year in April and May this year, when the government's state of emergency over the epidemic was in place, but is believed to have risen back close to the year-before level.
   Still, demand is unlikely to increase dramatically from now, with many Japanese people seen refraining from making trips, including those for visiting parents' homes, amid the coronavirus crisis.
   Dozens of tourist buses visit a gas station near Lake Yamanaka in Yamanashi Prefecture, west of Tokyo, for refueling on each day of August in normal years. But a worker at the gas station said, "We haven't seen even a single tourist bus coming to the store this summer," adding that the number of individual customers, including those visiting their holiday homes around the lake, which is a two-hour drive from Tokyo, has nearly halved.
