５月消費支出、１６．２％減　落ち込み幅、過去最大―外出自粛、旅行・外食が激減

　総務省が７日発表した５月の家計調査によると、１世帯（２人以上）当たりの消費支出は２５万２０１７円となり、物価変動の影響を除いた実質で前年同月比１６．２％減少した。比較可能な２００１年１月以降で、過去最大の落ち込みを記録した４月（１１．１％減）を上回る減少幅。新型コロナウイルス感染拡大による外出自粛が続き、旅行・レジャーや外食などの支出が冷え込んだ。
　マイナスは８カ月連続。緊急事態宣言の全面解除が５月２５日までずれ込んだほか、改元に伴う１０連休で旅行・レジャー需要が盛り上がった前年の反動も響いた。宿泊料やパック旅行費、遊園地入場・乗り物代の減少幅はいずれも９割を超えた。飲食店の営業時間短縮もあり、飲酒代は８８．４％減、食事代も５５．８％減に落ち込んだ。在宅勤務など外出機会の減少で、背広服は６４．７％減った。（2020/07/07-11:37）

Japanese household spending in May dived 16.2 pct from a year earlier in price-adjusted real terms, posting the biggest drop since comparable data became available in January 2001, amid the coronavirus crisis, the government said Tuesday.
   Consumption expenditures per household with at least two members came to 252,017 yen, down for the eighth straight month, the internal affairs ministry said. Household spending marked the record drop for the second consecutive month, after an 11.1-pct fall in April.
   The year-on-year spending plunge reflected the Japanese government's state of emergency declaration over COVID-19 which stayed in place in some regions until full lifting on May 25 and a surge in travel and leisure demand in May last year that stemmed from the 10-day holiday period for the Imperial succession in the month.
   Expenditures on accommodations, package tours and amusement park charges all dropped over 90 pct.
   Reflecting shortened business hours at restaurants, spending on drinking tumbled 88.4 pct while that on meal charges fell 55.8 pct.
