オンワード、７００店閉鎖へ 販売苦戦、コロナも影響
アパレル大手のオンワードホールディングスは１３日、２０２１年２月期に国内外で約７００店舗を閉鎖する計画を明らかにした。百貨店内の店舗での販売苦戦に加え、新型コロナウイルス感染拡大で来店客数が減少。スリム化と同時にインターネット通販に力を入れ、事業の立て直しを進める。
保元道宣社長が同日の決算説明会で表明した。閉鎖に伴う人員削減は行わず、配置転換で対応する。
同社は百貨店を中心に婦人用の「２３区」「組曲」といったブランド服を販売している。前期も不採算の約７００店舗を閉鎖しており、今回と合わせて、２０１９年２月末と比べて店舗数はほぼ半減の約１６００店になる。（2020/04/13-17:55）
Apparel Maker Onward Holdings to Close 700 Outlets
Japanese apparel maker Onward Holdings Co. said Monday that it plans to close a total of some 700 outlets at home and abroad by the end of its current business year to February 2021.
The closures are due to stagnant sales at its outlets in department stores and a decrease in customers due to the spread of the new coronavirus. The plan was announced by the company's president, Michinobu Yasumoto, at a press conference to release its earnings for the year to last February.
