ペーパードライバー講習が人気　感染懸念、「思わぬ需要」―新型コロナ

　新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大を受け、自動車のペーパードライバー講習が人気だ。勤務先から電車利用を禁止されたり、公共交通機関利用による感染を懸念したりする人が受講するといい、教習所関係者は「こういう需要は驚きだ」と話している。
　北関東で運転に不慣れな人向けに出張教習をする自動車学校「ペーパードライバースクール北関東」（前橋市）。「勤務先から『移動に電車を使うな』と指示された」などの理由による申し込みが増えている。受講者は主婦から会社員まで幅広く、園田道利代表は「電車やバスと違い、車は他人と接触しない」と利点を強調する。
　東海地方で展開する「ペーパードライバースクールゼロ」では、新型コロナの流行をきっかけとした受講生が全体の１割に上る。仕事で運転する人だけでなく、「子どもの送迎で車を使う」「人混みを避けて移動したい」との理由もあり、上谷和彦代表は「こういった需要もあるのか」と驚きを隠さない。
　同スクールでは１９日、新型コロナの打撃を受けた勤務先のホテル退職を決めた４０代男性が教習を受けた。２０年近くペーパードライバーだが、転職先では運転が必要になる。「久しぶりの運転は本当に怖く、１人じゃとても乗れないので受講した」と話した。（2020/03/23-13:20）

Driving lessons for license holders who rarely drive are seeing a boost in popularity in Japan amid the new coronavirus epidemic, as people seek to avoid using public transportation to get to work.
   The Paper Driver School Kitakanto in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, in eastern Japan, is seeing many applications from people who were told by their employers not to use trains when commuting to work.
   "Unlike in trains and buses, you don't come in contact with others in a car," school representative Michitoshi Sonoda said.
   Students at the school for inexperienced drivers range from housewives to company employees.
   At Paper Driver School Zero, which provides driving lessons for license holders around central Japan, some 10 pct of all students took up the lessons due to the new coronavirus outbreak. In addition to those wishing to drive to work, people have signed up for such reasons as to drive their children around and to move while avoiding crowds.
