楽天、米電子書籍会社を売却

　楽天は２５日、図書館や教育機関などを対象に電子書籍配信サービスを手掛けている米子会社、オーバードライブホールディングス（オハイオ州）の全株式を売却すると発表した。来年１月末に米投資ファンドに譲渡する予定。売却額は非公表だが、２０２０年１～３月期に売却益約４００億円程度を計上する。
　楽天は、１５年に約５００億円でオーバードライブを買収。個人向け電子書籍事業などとの連携を目指したが効果は乏しく、「経営資源配分の最適化を図る」ため、売却を決めた。（2019/12/25-11:37）

Major Japanese cybermall operator Rakuten Inc. said Wednesday it will sell OverDrive Holdings Inc., a wholly owned U.S. unit offering electronic book distribution services.
Rakuten will sell all outstanding shares of the Ohio-based subsidiary, which provides e-books to libraries and educational institutions, to a U.S. investment fund at the end of January next year.
