豪裁判所、トヨタ車の欠陥認定　高額賠償の可能性―メディア報道

　【ニューヨーク時事】オーストラリア連邦裁判所は７日、トヨタ自動車が同国で販売した一部の車両に搭載された排ガスフィルターに欠陥があったと認定した。この問題をめぐり集団訴訟が提起されていた。現地メディアが報じた。
　報道によると、訴訟の原告らは２０１５～２０年に販売されたピックアップトラック「ハイラックス」やスポーツ用多目的車（ＳＵＶ）「フォーチュナー」「プラド」のディーゼルエンジン車で、排ガス微粒子の除去フィルターに欠陥があったと主張。燃費悪化やエンジンの劣化を招いたとして、トヨタ豪州法人を相手取り提訴していた。
　判決は、トヨタ車約２６万台について、フィルターの欠陥で価値が低下したと認めた。全ての所有者が損害賠償を請求した場合、賠償額は２０億豪ドル（約１８５０億円）を上回る可能性があるという。（2022/04/08-06:01）

Australian Court Finds Faulty Filters on Toyota Vehicles

Australia's Federal Court found Thursday that some vehicles sold by a Toyota Motor Corp. unit in the country had faulty exhaust gas filters, local media reported.
The plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit claimed that filters to remove diesel particulates on Hilux pickup trucks and Fortuner and Prado SUVs sold between 2015 and 2020 were defective, leading to lower fuel efficiency and engine deterioration.
