伊方原発、使用済みＭＯＸ取り出し　国内初―四国電力

　四国電力は１２日、プルサーマル発電をしてきた伊方原発３号機（愛媛県伊方町）の稼働を２６日に停止し、使い終えたウラン・プルトニウム混合酸化物（ＭＯＸ）燃料を取り出すと発表した。四国電によると、１９９７年のプルサーマル計画発表後、商用原発で使用済みＭＯＸ燃料を取り出すのは国内で初めて。
　政府や電力会社は、使用済み核燃料からプルトニウムを抽出し原発の燃料として再利用する「核燃料サイクル」の一環として、通常の原発でプルトニウムとウランの混合燃料を使うプルサーマル発電を進めている。
　伊方原発３号機は２０１０年にＭＯＸ燃料１６体の使用を始めた。来年４月２７日までの定期検査中に全１６体を取り出す。使用済みＭＯＸ燃料の再利用も検討する。ただ、ＭＯＸを再処理する施設がなく、同原発内で保管する見通しだ。（2019/12/12-19:42）

Shikoku Electric to Remove Spent MOX Fuel at Ikata Plant

Shikoku Electric Power Co. said Thursday that it will suspend operations of the No. 3 reactor at its Ikata nuclear power plant on Dec. 26 for routine checkups and remove spent mixed-oxide, or MOX, fuel, from the reactor.
This will mark the first removal of used MOX fuel, a blend of plutonium extracted from spent nuclear fuel and uranium, from any commercial nuclear power plant in Japan since an initiative on plu-thermal power generation using the mixed fuel was announced in the country in 1997, according to the power supplier serving the Shikoku western Japan region.
