対日鉄鋼関税、協議開始で合意　萩生田経産相がレモンド米商務長官と会談

　萩生田光一経済産業相は１５日、来日中のレモンド米商務長官と経産省内で会談した。両氏は米国が日本の鉄鋼やアルミニウム製品に課している追加関税の見直しに向けた協議を始めることで合意。日本は早期撤廃を求めており、今後、事務レベルで具体的な議論を進める。
　米国はトランプ前政権下の２０１８年、安全保障上の脅威を理由として鉄鋼に２５％、アルミに１０％の追加関税を導入。欧州連合（ＥＵ）とは先月末、輸入制限の緩和などで合意した。
　萩生田氏は会談の冒頭、「インド太平洋地域の自由で公正な経済秩序の構築のため、日米を中心とする有志国で連携していきたい」と強調。これに対し、レモンド氏は「ともに経済の強化につなげたい」と応じた。
　会談終了後に公表された共同声明には、半導体の供給網強化などに向けて両国が協力することを盛り込んだ。声明は中国を念頭に、「不公正な貿易慣行に対抗するため、市場歪曲（わいきょく）的な措置に対処する」とも明記した。（2021/11/15-17:31）

Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Koichi Hagiuda and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo at a meeting in Tokyo on Monday apparently started talks for reviewing additional U.S. tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Japan.
   In a statement released Friday, before their trip to Japan, Raimondo and U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai said that "the United States and Japan will seek to resolve bilateral concerns," including over the application of import restrictions and the sufficiency of actions that address steel and aluminum excess capacity.
   In 2018, under the administration of then President Donald Trump, the United States introduced additional tariffs of 25 pct on steel and 10 pct on aluminum, citing national security reasons.
   The United States and the European Union agreed late last month to ease U.S. import restrictions on EU steel.
