日本の若者、岸田首相に手紙渡す　気候変動対策強化求め―ＣＯＰ２６

　【グラスゴー時事】英北部グラスゴーでの国連気候変動枠組み条約第２６回締約国会議（ＣＯＰ２６）首脳級会合に出席した岸田文雄首相に宛てて、日本の高校生ら５人が２日、対策強化を求めるメッセージを記した手紙を手渡そうと試みた。直接はかなわなかったものの、同行の政府関係者が「首相に渡す」として受け取ってくれたという。
　５人は環境運動「未来のための金曜日・日本」のメンバー。ＣＯＰ２６と、直前に開かれた「気候変動ユース（若者）会議」に参加するため渡英した。首脳級会合で演説した後、会場から出てきた岸田首相に対し「岸田さーん」と大声で呼び掛け、それぞれが書いた手紙を渡そうとした。警備に阻まれその場で渡せなかったものの、外務省の担当者が首相に渡してくれることになった。
　５人のうちの１人で東京都の高校生、福代美乃里さん（１６）は「すぐ近くに（首相が）いたのに手渡せず、もどかしかった」と語った。しかし「（間接的にでも）渡せることになり、良かった。（対策強化を求める）私たちの本気の訴えを分かってほしい」と気を取り直している。手紙には「１カ月近く学校を休んでＣＯＰに来た。私たちの未来と、他の生物を守るためにも、責任ある対策を取ってほしい」と記したという。
　米国在住の大学生、酒井功雄さん（２０）は、手紙で「気候変動によって私たちの世代に被害がのしかかっている。市民や若者の声を反映した政策決定をしてほしい」と訴えた。当日の首相演説に関しては、石炭火力発電廃止など踏み込んだ内容がなく「不十分と思った」と残念そうだ。「問題の根本的解決につながる政策を取ってもらいたい」と今後に期待している。（2021/11/03-20:36）

Five Japanese youths have called on Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in letters to beef up the country's measures against climate change.
   When Kishida came out of the venue for a climate summit in Glasgow, Scotland, after delivering a speech at the meeting Tuesday, the five people tried to hand their letters in person to the prime minister while shouting, "Mr. Kishida."
   They were blocked by security guards and unable to hand the letters directly to Kishida. But an official from the Japanese Foreign Ministry told them that their letters will be delivered to the prime minister.
   The five youths, members of Fridays for Future Japan, a climate activist group, attended the U.N. Climate Change Conference of Youth in Glasgow late last month, which preceded the 26th Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, or COP26, kicked off Sunday.
   In the speech at the COP26 summit Tuesday, Kishida pledged Japan's additional aid of up to 10 billion dollars over the next five years to help Asia's decarbonization efforts.
