日本ＫＦＣ、「子ども食堂」にチキン提供　食品廃棄削減、外食初

　日本ケンタッキー・フライド・チキン（日本ＫＦＣ、横浜市）は１９日、地域住民などが主体となり、子どもに無料や低料金で食事を出している「子ども食堂」に調理済みのチキン商品を無償で提供すると発表した。閉店時に売れ残り、まだ食べられる食品の廃棄を減らし、地域支援につなげるのが狙い。
　全国展開する外食企業が子ども食堂などに調理済み商品を提供するのは初めて。日本ＫＦＣの伊勢佐木町店（横浜市）が売れ残った調理済みの商品を凍結して保管。ＮＰＯ法人「フードバンク横浜」を通じて子ども食堂などに届け、それぞれの食堂で骨を外したり、加熱処理したりする。
　日本ＫＦＣは「横浜市と協力し、安全を担保して商品を提供できる仕組みが構築できた」としている。商品提供は１１月に開始。海外のＫＦＣが１９９０年代から行っている取り組みを参考にした。今後、他地域への拡大を検討する。（2019/11/19-21:32）

Kentucky Fried Chicken Japan Ltd. has begun providing precooked chicken products for free to "kodomo shokudo," or eateries that offer meals to children without any charge or at low prices.
The move is aimed at reducing disposal of food materials that remained unsold by closing time at the fast-food restaurant chain's outlets but can still be eaten, the subsidiary of KFC Holdings Japan Ltd. said Tuesday. The chain also hopes to support local communities through the initiative.
