国民投票法「強行せず」　今国会成立こだわらず―自民・二階氏

　自民党の二階俊博幹事長は１８日の記者会見で、今国会の焦点である国民投票法改正案について、衆院憲法審査会で採決を強行しない考えを明言した。与党や一部野党のみで採決する可能性を問われ「そういうことは致しません」と述べた。
　同改正案は、憲法改正国民投票の利便性を高める内容。二階氏は今国会での取り扱いについて「われわれはたくさんの課題を抱えている。できることから順番にやればいい。別に焦る必要はない」と述べ、今国会成立にこだわらない考えを示した。
　二階氏は「国民の合意に基づいて、憲法という重大な課題に対して対応することが大事だ」と述べ、円満な国会運営を重視する意向も明らかにした。（2019/11/18-19:35）

Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party has no plans to railroad a bill aimed at improving voter convenience in a possible national referendum on revising the Constitution, LDP Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai said Monday.
   Asked at a press conference about the possibility of taking a vote on the bill at the House of Representatives Commission on the Constitution without agreement with major opposition parties, Nikai said that the LDP had no such plan.
   The bill is the focus of the agenda at the current extraordinary session of the Diet, the country's parliament, set to end on Dec. 9.
   Nikai said the LDP is facing many challenges and that the party should start what it can. "There is no need to rush," he said, suggesting that the bill does not necessarily have to be passed during the ongoing Diet session.
   "It is important to address the critical challenge regarding the Constitution, based on national consensus," he said, suggesting an intention to manage Diet affairs amicably.
