東芝、前社長の責任検証　新たな取締役選任へ―永山議長、株主総会問題で陳謝

　東芝が昨年７月の定時株主総会で一部株主の権利行使を妨害しようとしたとされる問題で、永山治取締役会議長（社外取締役）は１４日、オンライン形式で記者会見し、当時の社長だった車谷暢昭氏を含めた関係者の責任について、第三者を交えて検証する方針を明らかにした。企業統治強化に向けて「取締役会を再構築する」として、新たな取締役を迎える意向も表明した。
　永山氏は「（外部の弁護士からの）指摘を重く受け止め、全ての利害関係者に心配をかけたことをおわびする」と陳謝した。その上で「法的責任の有無はさておき、経営混乱を招き、株主の信頼を損なったことに関する車谷氏の責任は決して無視できない」と強調した。取締役会議長を務める自らの進退については、混乱の収拾に全力を挙げることで責任を果たすと述べた。（2021/06/14-19:09）

Toshiba to Review Ex-Chief's Role in Shareholder Meeting Scandal

Toshiba Corp. board chairman Osamu Nagayama revealed a plan on Monday to conduct a review with third-party support on the responsibility of former President Nobuaki Kurumatani and others for a shareholder meeting scandal.
The plan came after external lawyers released an investigation report Thursday claiming that the Japanese company colluded with the industry ministry to prevent activist investors from using their voting rights at a general meeting of Toshiba shareholders last July.
