「日本との協力関係確認」　九州で共同訓練―仏国防省報道官インタビュー

　【パリ時事】陸上自衛隊とフランス陸軍、米海兵隊は１１～１７日、九州で共同訓練を行う。フランス国防省のグランジャン報道官は１０日までに時事通信のインタビューに応じ、台頭する中国を念頭に「インド太平洋地域へのわれわれの関心の強さと日本との協力関係を確認する機会だ」と強調した。仏軍が日本国内の陸上演習に参加するのは初めて。オーストラリア軍も一部で参加する。
　インド洋や南太平洋に海外領土を持ち、９０％以上の排他的経済水域（ＥＥＺ）をインド太平洋地域に持つフランスは、中国の海洋進出を警戒。今回の訓練参加には、対中包囲網の強化を示したい思惑があるとみられる。グランジャン氏は、中国が台湾海峡で軍事活動を活発化させていることをめぐり「国際社会の反応を試そうとしている」と指摘した。
　日本との関係については、インド太平洋地域における「絶対的に重要なパートナーであり、両国は同じ価値観を共有している」と述べた。また、日仏の外務・防衛担当閣僚協議（２プラス２）を「数週間以内に開催したいと考えており、日程を最終調整中だ」と明らかにした。２プラス２は昨年日本で開催予定だったが、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大により見送られた。
　フランスは２０１８年、「インド太平洋の安全保障」戦略指針を策定し、欧州で初めてこの地域に関する戦略を打ち出した。（2021/05/11-07:05）

The French army's participation in a joint exercise with the Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force and the U.S. Marine Corps in Japan's Kyushu region from Tuesday will allow France to confirm its cooperative ties with Japan, a French defense spokesman said.
   In a recent interview with Jiji Press, Herve Grandjean, spokesman for the French Ministry of Armed Forces, also said the joint exercise, which will run through May 17, will be an opportunity for France to confirm its strong interest in the Indo-Pacific region, apparently mindful of increasing Chinese military activities in the region.
   It will be the first time for the French military to take part in a ground exercise in Japan. The Australian ministry will also join part of the exercise in the Kyushu region of southwestern Japan.
   France, which has territories in the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean, is concerned about China's growing maritime activities. Over 90 pct of France's exclusive economic zones are located in the Indo-Pacific region. France's participation in the joint exercise is believed to be intended to highlight the strengthening of an international coalition against China.
   On the enhanced Chinese military activities in the Taiwan Strait, Grandjean said that China is trying to test the reaction of the international community.
