日本政府、香港情勢への直接批判避ける　習主席来日を意識

　香港で抗議デモに参加していた可能性がある学生が死亡したことに対し、菅義偉官房長官は８日の記者会見で「大変憂慮している」と述べるとともに、「話し合いを通じた解決」を求める従来の見解を繰り返した。来春の習近平国家主席の国賓としての来日を控え、直接的な批判を避けた形だ。
　茂木敏充外相も会見で「自制と平和的な話し合いで事態が収拾する。これ以上のことを言うのはプラスにならない」と語り、回復基調にある日中関係を意識していることをにじませた。
　香港情勢をめぐっては安倍晋三首相も、４日にバンコク近郊で行われた中国の李克強首相との会談で「一国二制度の下で自由で開かれた香港の繁栄が極めて重要」との表現で自重を促した。
　日本政府は、来春の習氏来日をできるだけスムーズに実現させたい考え。こうした中、抗議活動に関連して初めて死者が出た事態に憂慮を深めており、引き続き香港政府などに対して「平和的解決」を促していく方針だ。（2019/11/08-18:42）

Japan on Friday avoided directly criticizing China over the death of a student in Hong Kong amid protests, ahead of a planned visit to Japan by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
   Xi is scheduled to visit Japan as a state guest next spring. The Japanese government hopes to realize the visit as smoothly as possible.
   While expressing concerns over the student's death at a press conference, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga reiterated Tokyo's call for a peaceful resolution to the situation through dialogue.
   "Self-control and peaceful dialogue are helpful. It wouldn't be beneficial to say anything further," Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi told a separate press conference, signaling Tokyo's desire not to harm relations with Beijing.
   In a meeting with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang near Bangkok on Monday, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said the prosperity of a free and open Hong Kong is extremely important under the policy of one country, two systems.
