三井住友銀が「グリーン預金」　２０００億円規模、環境分野で運用

　三井住友銀行は８日、企業や機関投資家から募った預金を、再生可能エネルギーによる発電など環境分野への融資で運用する「グリーン預金」の取り扱いを月内にも開始する方針を明らかにした。世界的な「脱炭素」の流れを後押しする。当初は２０００億円規模の獲得を目指す。
　金利の水準は通常の定期預金と変わらないが、資金は二酸化炭素（ＣＯ２）の排出削減に役立つ事業に絞って融資する。預金はドル建て。
　外部から毎年運用状況のチェックを受けることで、客観性と透明性を確保する。同日、預金の運用状況を評価するオランダの大手環境格付け会社の日本法人と契約を締結したと発表した。
　お金を預ける企業側にとっては、グリーン預金に切り替えることで環境面での貢献が可能となる。邦銀のグリーン預金導入は初めてという。（2021/03/08-14:53）

SMBC to Launch "Green Deposit" Service

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. will launch a "green deposit" service as early as this month for companies and institutional investors that want their deposits to be used for environment-friendly projects, bank officials said Monday.
The new service, in which savings will be used for promoting power generation from renewable energy sources and other eco-friendly projects, is aimed at boosting the global momentum toward decarbonization.
