首都圏でも百貨店閉店　三越恵比寿とそごう川口

　苦戦が続く百貨店業界で、首都圏の店舗にも閉店の波が及んできた。１９９４年にオープンした三越恵比寿店（東京都渋谷区）と９１年開業のそごう川口店（埼玉県川口市）が２８日閉店し、四半世紀余りの営業に幕を下ろした。
　三越恵比寿店とそごう川口店は、商圏が重なる駅ビルや近隣のショッピングセンターなどとの競争が激化。売上高はピーク時と比べ、三越恵比寿店が半分、そごう川口店は４割まで落ち込んだ。そごう川口店はこのところ営業赤字が続いていた。
　最終営業日には多くの客が訪れた。三越恵比寿店に開業当初からよく来ていたという女性（７７）は「食品など良い品質の商品がそろっていて便利だった」と名残を惜しんだ。そごう川口店の女性客（６０）は「ランドセルを買ったり、家族でよく来たりした思い出のお店だ」と話した。（2021/02/28-20:22）

In a sign of an increasingly tough business environment for Japanese department store operators, two outlets in the Tokyo metropolitan area closed their doors for the last time on Sunday.
Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd.'s Mitsukoshi Ebisu store in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward, which opened in 1994, and Sogo & Seibu Co.'s Sogo Kawaguchi store in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, which started operations in 1991, put an end to their history of more than a quarter of a century.
