札幌開催、都が受け入れへ＝追加経費負担なしの方向－東京五輪マラソン

　２０２０年東京五輪のマラソン、競歩の札幌開催案について、東京都が受け入れる方針を固めたことが３１日分かった。国際オリンピック委員会（ＩＯＣ）、都、大会組織委員会、政府の４者はトップ級会合を１１月１日に東京都内で開催。関係者によると、都には札幌開催への変更に伴う追加経費の負担を求めない方向。
　ＩＯＣのコーツ調整委員長は３１日夜、４者トップ級会合での決着について「もちろん（自信を持っている）」と答えた。
　９月下旬から酷暑の中東ドーハで開催された世界陸上で途中棄権者が続出したことを受け、ＩＯＣは１０月１６日に東京五輪のマラソンと競歩の札幌開催案を突如発表。翌１７日にはバッハ会長が組織委との２者間合意を明らかにした。２５日にはコーツ調整委員長が小池百合子都知事と会談し、決定事項であることを改めて強調した。
　１０月３０日から始まったＩＯＣ調整委員会の会議冒頭で、コーツ調整委員長が１１月１日の４者協議開催を提案。その場で小池都知事は、マラソンと競歩の東京開催を改めて主張していた。
　札幌開催のマラソンは、市中心部の大通公園を発着点として毎夏行われている北海道マラソンのコースを軸に検討。ＩＯＣのバッハ会長が示した札幌ドーム発着案は改修を要することから難しいとみられる。コース設定に加えて、警備、選手と関係者の輸送と宿泊、ボランティアの確保など残り約９カ月の短い期間で運営面の課題は多い。（2019/10/31-22:57）

The Tokyo metropolitan government is expected to accept the change of the venue for the men's and women's marathon and race walk events in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics from the Japanese capital to Sapporo in the northernmost prefecture of Hokkaido, it was learned Thursday.
   The metropolitan government will unlikely be asked to shoulder additional costs stemming from the possible venue change, informed sources said.
   A top-level meeting will be held in Tokyo on Friday among the metropolitan government, the Japanese government, the organizing committee for the 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, and the International Olympic Committee. John Coates, chairman of the IOC's Coordination Commission for the games, said on Thursday night he is sure that an accord will be made at the four-way talks.
   After a number of athletes dropped out of the marathon and race walk events at this year's World Athletics Championships in Doha, Qatar, due to the sweltering heat there, the IOC made an abrupt announcement on Oct. 16 of the change of the venue for the Olympic marathon and race walk to Sapporo, the capital of Hokkaido, due to its concern over the powerful heat wave in Tokyo in summer.
   IOC President Thomas Bach revealed an agreement with the organizing committee on the matter on Oct. 17. At a meeting with Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike on Friday last week, Coates confirmed that a decision to alter the venue has been taken.
