首里城再建に全力＝菅官房長官

　菅義偉官房長官は３１日の記者会見で、火災に遭った那覇市の首里城について「国営沖縄記念公園の施設だ。再建に向けて政府として全力で取り組んでいく。しっかり対応する」と述べ、復元に全力を挙げる考えを示した。
　菅長官は「首里城は沖縄にとって極めて重要なシンボルだ。沖縄県民に心からお見舞い申し上げる。大変心を痛めている」と述べた。同時に「火災を検証し、二度とないようにすることが大事だ」と指摘した。（2019/10/31-12:16）

The Japanese government pledged Thursday to do all it can to support the reconstructing of fire-hit Shurijo, a UNESCO World Heritage castle in Naha, the capital of the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa.
   The fire destroyed seven structures at the castle, including the wooden Seiden main hall, on Thursday.
   "Shurijo is part of the Okinawa Commemorative National Government Park. The government will do all it can to aid reconstruction," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told a press conference.
   The castle is "an extremely important symbol of Okinawa. We offer our deepest condolences to the people of Okinawa. We're very saddened by this news," Suga said.
   He added, "It is important to investigate the cause of the fire and take measures so that it won't happen again."
