制作会社が２作品上映取りやめ＝川崎の映画祭、「主戦場」中止に抗議

　映画制作会社の若松プロダクションは２８日、川崎市で開催中のＫＡＷＡＳＡＫＩしんゆり映画祭での「止められるか、俺たちを」（白石和弥監督）など同社制作の２作品の上映を中止すると発表した。同映画祭で当初予定していた従軍慰安婦問題を取り上げたドキュメンタリー映画「主戦場」の上映が見送られたことに抗議した。
　「主戦場」は日系米国人の監督が慰安婦問題について国内外の知識人らにインタビューした映画。出演者の一部が上映差し止めと損害賠償を求める訴訟を起こしている。
　同映画祭事務局によると、共催の川崎市から「上映すると市や映画祭も訴えられる可能性がある」と懸念が伝えられたことに加え、「妨害などにボランティアで対応するには限界がある」と判断し、上映中止を決めた。
　若松プロと白石監督らは「市の『懸念』は公権力による『検閲』『介入』で、映画祭の判断も過度な忖度（そんたく）で『表現の自由』を殺す行為」などとする声明文を発表した。同プロは中止した２作品を川崎市内で無料上映する予定。（2019/10/28-18:56）

A Japanese movie studio said Monday it has called off the screening of its two films at an ongoing film festival in Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, in protest against a decision by the festival's organizers to cancel its showing of a documentary about so-called comfort women.
   The documentary, titled "Shusenjo: The Main Battleground of the Comfort Women Issue" and directed by Japanese-American filmmaker Miki Dezaki, features interviews with experts on the issue.
   Some of the interviewees have filed a lawsuit demanding a halt to the film's screening as well as damages.
   Comfort women, mainly from the Korean Peninsula, were forced into prostitution for Japanese troops before and during World War II. They remain a highly sensitive issue between Japan and South Korea.
   The decision to cancel the documentary's screening came after the Kawasaki municipal government, which cohosts the Kawasaki Shinyuri Film Festival, conveyed its concern that the city and the festival may also be sued if it is screened as planned, according to the festival's organizers.
