松任谷由実さんら招き園遊会　１０００人出席、５年ぶり秋開催

　天皇、皇后両陛下主催の秋の園遊会が２日午後、東京・元赤坂の赤坂御苑で開かれた。シンガー・ソングライターの松任谷由実さんや将棋棋士九段の加藤一二三さん、漫才師の西川きよしさんら約１０００人が出席し、両陛下や皇族方が声を掛けて回られた。秋の開催は５年ぶり。
　天皇陛下は松任谷さんのコンサートツアーについて「各地を回られて」と述べ、松任谷さんは「皆さん喜んでくださるのでそれがエネルギーになります」と応じた。陛下は知っている曲として「翳（かげ）りゆく部屋」を挙げていた。
　加藤さんは藤井聡太八冠の登場で将棋界が盛り上がっていると述べると、陛下は「すばらしいですね。加藤さんも将棋界の発展のために大変ご尽力なさって」とたたえた。
　西川さんには両陛下とも「テレビで拝見して」と声を掛け、皇后さまは「いつごろから漫才を」と質問していた。
　５月の春の園遊会では急な雷雨に見舞われたため、宮内庁は今回から雷雲の到達が予想された場合は会の途中でも中止するとしていたが、この日は晴天に恵まれ、両陛下や皇族方は出席者と和やかに懇談した。（2023/11/02-18:41）

Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako hosted a garden party at the Akasaka Imperial Gardens in Tokyo's Minato Ward on Thursday, which was attended by some 1,400 guests.
   This was the first Imperial garden party held in autumn in five years. Autumn parties in the past four years were canceled due to ceremonies related to the Emperor's enthronement and the COVID-19 pandemic.
   It was the second time for Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako to give a garden party since the Emperor ascended the throne in May 2019. The first party hosted by the couple was this year's spring event.
   The Emperor, the Empress and other members of the Imperial family had talks with guests. The invitees included singer-songwriter Yumi Matsutoya, shogi master Hifumi Kato and veteran comedian Kiyoshi Nishikawa.
   From this time, the Imperial Household Agency has set a rule of canceling the Imperial garden party one hour before its start if thunderclouds are expected, after the 2023 spring party, held in May, was marred by sudden rain and lightning. Depending on weather conditions, the party would be suspended even after it began.
