与野党、子育て・防衛で舌戦　統一地方選初の週末

　統一地方選の幕開けとなる９道府県知事選の告示後、最初の週末となった２５日、与野党幹部は各地で街頭演説して支持拡大を訴えた。自民党の茂木敏充幹事長は、子ども・子育て政策に全力で取り組む姿勢をアピール。立憲民主党の泉健太代表は、この主張に疑問を呈し、岸田政権は防衛力強化に偏重していると批判した。
　茂木氏は東京都内で「子育て世代の大きな負担となっているのが住宅費と教育費だ」と指摘。公営住宅への優先入居や、出世払い型の奨学金制度の導入・拡充などに意欲を示した。
　泉氏は埼玉県草加市で、今国会で審議中の２０２３年度予算案に触れ、「防衛費は２６％も増えるが、子ども・子育て予算（の増加分）は２．６％だ」と強調。「生活を後回しにするのが岸田文雄首相だ」と断じた。
　公明党の山口那津男代表は埼玉県川口市で「児童手当の生みの親は公明党だ。これから（対象を）高校３年生まで広げ、所得制限を外し、金額も増やしたい」と表明した。
　日本維新の会の音喜多駿政調会長は都内で「維新は本拠地の大阪で１０年以上、行政運営を経験してきた。行財政改革で財源を生み出し、教育無償化を全国に先駆けて実現した実績がある」と力説。共産党の志位和夫委員長は埼玉県川口市で「岸田政権による大軍拡を許していいかが大争点だ。力を合わせて止めよう」と呼び掛けた。（2023/03/26-07:02）

Executives of Japan's ruling and opposition parties held stump speeches across the country Saturday, the first weekend since the official start of the governorship races in nine prefectures Thursday.
   The gubernatorial elections are part of the first round of unified local polls next month. Elections in the first and second rounds are set for April 9 and April 23, respectively.
   Toshimitsu Motegi, secretary-general of the country's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, touted his party's commitment to policies for children and child-rearing.
   Meanwhile, Kenta Izumi, leader of the main opposition Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, questioned this and criticized the administration of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida for its heavy focus on strengthening Japan's defense capabilities.
   "Housing and education costs are posing heavy burdens on the child-rearing generation," Motegi said in a speech in Tokyo. He expressed willingness to give child-rearing people priority access to public housing, and introduce and expand scholarships that can be paid back after recipients' earnings increase.
